Taylor Swift

Biography

Taylor Swift (born 13.12.1989) Taylor Swift is an American Country-turned-Pop artist, who has earned seven Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard awards, eleven Country Music Association Awards and seven Academy of Country Music Awards as of January 2015.

Net Worth: According to Celebrity Net Worth in 2015, Taylor Swift has a net worth of 280 million USD.

Childhood: Taylor Swift was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania to Andrea and Scott Kingsley Swift. Swift began writing her own music at around the age of ten. She went on to perform some of these songs live at local karaoke contests, festivals and fairs, before compiling her own demo tape when she was eleven. Swift travelled to Nashville and began handing out the demo tape to receptionists on Nashville's Music Row, and despite many rejections, she was later chosen to sing the national anthem at the US Open tennis tournament. With the sudden growth of her potential career, the Swift family moved to Nashville entirely. Swift gave a performance at the Bluebird Café, which was seen by Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records. He promptly signed Swift to the label.

Career: Taylor Swift released her debut single, 'Tim McGraw', on 19th June 2006 at the age of 16. The film reached the 40th spot on Billboard's Hottest 100, and the 6th spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Later in the same year, Taylor Swift released her self-titled debut studio album, which was released on 24th October 2006. The album received glowing reviews, and shot to the top of the Billboard Country Albums charts, as well as coming in at number five on Billboard's 200 list. The film went on to become double Platinum in the UK and 6x Platinum in the US. On 14th October 2007, Swift released 'Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection'. The EP received moderate results and topped the US Holiday Albums Charts, as well as reaching the 20th Spot on Billboard's 200 list.

It was swiftly followed by a second EP, 'Beautiful Eyes', which was released on 15th July 2008. The EP topped the US Country Albums charts, as well as reaching the ninth spot on Billboard's 200 list. The EP was still on Billboard's 200 (admittedly at number 192) by the end of the year - almost six months later. On 11th November 2008, Taylor Swift released her second studio album, 'Fearless', which received glowing reviews and became her first chart topping album. As well as topping the Billboard 200 list in 2009, it was still in seventh position in 2010, and was still in the charts at number 88 in 2011, and was still in the charts at 126th position in 2012. This helped the album become 6x Platinum in the US and Australia, as well as being certified 9x Platinum in the Philippines. 'Fearless' was still in the Billboard charts when Taylor Swift released her third studio album, 'Speak Now'. The album was released on 25th October 2010. Again, the album received glowing reviews and topped 7 main albums charts, including Billboard's 200 and the US Country Music charts.

The following year on 21st November 2011, Taylor Swift released her first live album from her world tour. 'Speak Now World Tour - Live' received moderate reviews, yet did not see as much success as the previous album. It still, however, reached the 11th spot on Billboard's 200 List. On 22nd October 2012, Taylor Swift released 'Red', her fourth studio album. It received strong reviews, and reached the top spot of ten major world album charts. It also became Swift's third album to remain at the top spot on Billboard's 200 list for six weeks, making Swift the first artist to achieve that in 43 years since The Beatles. Swift released her fifth studio album, '1989', on 27th October 2014. The album received strong reviews again and received very similar success and became the bestselling album in the US of 2014.

Personal Life: In July 2008, Taylor Swift dated Joe Jonas until they broke up in October 2008, when Swift began dating Taylor Lautner until December of the same year. Between late 2009 and early 2010, Swift was romantically linked to John Mayer. Between October and December 2010, Swift dated Jake Gyllenhaal, although they were seen together in January and February of 2011. Between July and September 2012, Swift dated Conor Kennedy, before dating One Direction singer Harry Styles between October 2012 and January 2013. Swift's most recent relationship as of 2015 is with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris in June the couple were announced by Forbes as the highest paid celebrity couple over the past year with a combined earnings of over $146 million.

Sorry Noel Gallagher! Here Are Six Do-gooders People DO Like

Dave Grohl Bono Noel Gallagher Lady GaGa Taylor Swift Jon Bon Jovi Dolly Parton Brian May

In a recent interview, Noel Gallagher shared the reason he thinks so many people seem to inexplicably hate U2’s Bono. According to him, “nobody likes a do-gooder”, and Bono is certainly well known for his work with the likes of Amnesty International, DATA and the One Campaign among others.

Noel added in his chat with Absolute Radio’s Andy Bush and Richie Firth: “That’s why people like me, I’m a do-badder.” I think you’ll find you have your critics too, Noel!

Anyway, here are six do-gooding musicians that everyone loves, just to prove that philanthropy hasn’t fallen out of favour.

Who Made History At The 2021 Brit Awards?

Brit Awards Taylor Swift Dua Lipa Little Mix

It's fair to say that the 2021 Brit Awards show was an event like no other. Not only was it the first major indoor live event in over a year (thanks to COVID-19 restrictions), it also saw the most women taking home awards in BRIT history.

Dua Lipa rocked the night with a win for both British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year for her second album Future Nostalgia, but it was Little Mix who made history by being the first all-female group to win Best British Group six months after the release of their sensational Confetti album.

The BRIT Awards 2021: In No Particular Order, The Winners Are.....

With a great deal of excitement, a lot of relief and some anxiousness, the biggest night on the UK's musical calendar went ahead as the BRIT's 2021 celebrated the stars and artists that have made the biggest impact in music over the last year. As part of the Government's pilot scheme to get events back up and running safely the O2 once again hosted the BRIT's, not in front of the usual 20,000 fans and invited guests, but in front of an audience made up of 2,500 care workers and 1,500 music industry related others, with each of them having had to provide a negative CoVID test.

Jack Whitehall was back again, hosting the first major event at the O2 since March 2020. After a brief Line Of Fire themed intro, Foreplay, aka Coldplay, were first up performing their brand new track, Higher Power, on a floating barge in the Thames opposite the arena. With holograms and pyrotechnics galore Chris and his band lit up the night sky to get the show off to a suitably stellar start.

April 2021 Favourites: We Found 'Californian Soil' To Be Sublime, 'Introvert' Extraordinary And 'Fight For You' A Fitting Oscar Winner

London Grammar The Offspring Taylor Swift Billie Eilish

April 2021 may have been one of the coldest in 60 years, but there were still enough hot releases to warm our hearts and fuel our fires. Taylor Swift released the first of six albums that she is set to re-record with her version of Fearless, Demi Lovato made a welcome come back with her seventh album, Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over and Wolf Alice delivered an incendiary second single, Smile, from their forthcoming album, Blue Weekend. Lana Del Rey, on trend with the colour palette, announced she would release her second album of the year, following up Chemtrails Over The Country Club, with Blue Banisters on July 4th. Olivia Rodrigo released a strong follow-up single to her huge hit, drivers licence whilst Billie Eilish dropped one of her weakest singles in years. Rapper DMX sadly died after suffering a heart-attack and AJ Tracey flouted CoVID rules as he attempted an eventually abandoned meet-and-greet, but none of them made our top five. Here's who did.

What I Am Needs No Excuses: Music To Empower Anyone To Be Themselves [Playlist]

Jk Rowling Christina Aguilera Taylor Swift Gloria Gaynor

Whether you are on her side or not, it seems that Jk Rowling is a huge point of contention for people across the LGBTQ+ community for her repeated inflammatory statements on gender identity. Many have gone so far as to call her a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), but after she was labelled a "transphobic bigot" on the radio show The Last Word with Matt Cooper, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) have upheld a complaint that the comment was unfair.

Naturally, the anti-Rowling community have reacted with anger that she can be seen as anything other than a "transphobic bigot", since her past comments have deeply hurt a huge majority of the trans community, especially in light of her Harry Potter books being such a big part of many people's lives and identity.

Upcoming Releases: You'd Be Foolish Not To Check Out Our April Highlights

Taylor Swift London Grammar Demi Lovato

Can you believe we're nearly into the fourth month of the year? So much has happened in such a short period of time. We have a new (stumbling) US president, the old stumbling US president has been banned from Twitter and Facebook, Kim and Kanye have split, Harry and Meghan have revealed all to Oprah, Wales have been crowned the Six Nations Champions, the Mars rover landed successfully and the Space X rocket took off, landed successfully and then blew up! (Oh, and we've had a boat stuck in a canal!) In music we've had a record setting Grammy Awards, new album's from Lana Del Rey, Foo Fighters and The Pretty Reckless and fascinating documentaries featuring among others, Billie Eilish, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. So far 2021 has not been uneventful and April looks set to continue that trend. As well as Easter eggs and The Oscars to look forward to we've hand picked these musical treats for you too.

The Grammy Awards 2021: Beyoncé Wins Four But Sir Elton John Might Still Hit Someone

Beyonce Knowles Taylor Swift Dua Lipa Harry Styles Cardi B Elton John

On a night when barely anything was normal at the 63rd Grammy Awards, history was made as Beyoncé  not only won four awards but also became the most decorated female artist of all time with a collective 28 awards. Beyoncé  was reported to be a no show prior to the awards, much to the dismay of the organisers who had ideally wanted her to perform. However, as the evening got underway and the TV cameras panned across the room, it was something of a surprise to see both Beyoncé and Jay-Z seated at one of the socially distanced tables. Beyoncé was the big news, and the big winner on the night; her fourth award meant that she surpassed the total number of awards by a female artist, an honour previously held by Country singer Alison Krauss with 27. One of the biggest losers on the night, no doubt to the horror of Sir Elton John, was Phoebe Bridgers. Phoebe was up for four awards including Best New Artist and Best Rock Song, sadly she didn't win in any category. Elton, talking to Phoebe Bridgers on his Apple Music 1 'Rocket Hour' show ahead of the Grammy's, had said "If you don’t win at least one, I’m going to hit someone, OK?" We are yet to see whether he has! For now let's see who won what.
