Fact: Former Pink Floyd star Roger Waters will help Newport Folk Festival officials celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bob Dylan's controversial electric guitar performance when he makes his first appearance at the Rhode Island event this summer (Jul15). Waters joins a bill that also features Sufjan Stevens, J Mascis and Iron & Wine. This year's Newport Folk Festival will mark the 50th anniversary of a 1965 protest, sparked by Dylan's first electric guitar performance. At the time, many fans were appalled by the folk legend's decision not to play acoustically, with many booing him and turning their back on his performance.
Fact: Pink Floyd rocker David Gilmour has unveiled plans for his first European tour in nine years. The singer and guitarist will kick off the trek in Croatia on 12 September (15) and travel across the continent, wrapping up the live shows with a three-night stint at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The tour will coincide with the upcoming release of his untitled fourth solo album, the first since Gilmour's 2006 project On An Island.

Fact: Universal Music has sold off its iconic Parlophone label, the home of legendary bands including Blur, Coldplay and Pink Floyd, to Warner Music Group in a $767 million (£487 million) deal. The agreement does not include a licence for The Beatles' archive owned by Parlophone.
