Biography

Robert Pattinson (born 13.5.1986) is an English actor and model, best known for his roles in the Harry Potter and Twilight series of films.

Childhood: Robert Pattinson was born in London, to Clare and Richard Pattinson. His mother works for a modeling agency and his father imports vintage cars from the US. Robert has two elder sisters, one of whom is the singer, Lizzy Pattinson. The other is Victoria.

Robert attended Tower House School in Richmond Park and then Harrodian school in West London. Both schools are private, fee-paying schools. Whilst at school, Pattinson became involved in acting through the Barnes Theatre Company. He caught the attention of an acting agent whilst performing in a production of Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

At the age of 12, Robert Pattinson started modeling, though he only continued modeling for around four years, though he did appear in Hackett's advertising campaign in 2007.

Acting Career: In 2004, Pattinson landed a role in the TV film Ring of the Nibelungs, along with Max von Sydow, Alicia Witt and Julian Sands. He also acted in Mira Nair's Vanity Fair, which starred Reese Witherspoon and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, though most of his scenes wound up on the cutting room floor. Pattinson was destined only to appear on the DVD version of the film.

Pattinson was originally due to appear at the Royal Court Theatre in The Woman Before. However, he was sacked just before the opening night and replaced by the actor Tom Riley.

In 2005, Robert Pattinson was named The Times' 'British Star of Tomorrow' for his performance as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The film also starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Ralph Fiennes. Pattinson found himself often being compared to another British actor, Jude Law.

In 2008, Robert Pattinson starred in Twilight. The film, based on Stephanie Meyer's novel of the same name, also starred Kristen Stewart, who he has dated on-and-off and became a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Pattinson and Stewart both reprised their roles in The Twilight Saga: New Moon with Taylor Lautner and the second sequel, Eclipse. Pattinson also sings on two tracks of the Twilight soundtrack. He also composed two tracks for the film How To Be.

In 2009, Robert Pattinson starred in the drama film Little Ashes, in which he played the role of the artist Salvador Dali. He also lined up a theatre performance for the producer David Pugh as well as a role in Remember Me, with Emilie de Ravin. In February 2009, Robert Pattinson presented at the 81st Academy Awards.

To coincide with the release of New Moon, Revolver Entertainment created a documentary entitled Robsessed, documenting his rise to fame and subsequent popularity.

Personal Life: It is rumoured that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are rekindling their romance after their difficult split. The former Twilight co-stars reportedly talk all the time via Skype and text despite being thousands of miles away from each other.

Robert Pattinson Won't Rule Out Another Franchise

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson wouldn't rule out another franchise.

The 31-year-old actor found worldwide fame as vampire Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight Saga' movies and although he has previously complained about being uncomfortable with the fame it brought, he insisted that he had a "great time" making the films and would be happy to work on another series of movies.

Deadline reports that Robert said at the Berlin International Film Festival: "I've not had a bad experience on any film I've done, maybe one. The only reason I'm a little cautious about big franchise films is that you can't make them R rated. If you have a big budget, there's more people on you to do it a [specific] way or you're fired. If you keep a budget contained, if people think they can get their money back, you can experiment more.

Good Time Review

Very Good

Robert Pattinson continues to distance himself from his teen heartthrob image with this scruffy B-movie. His loser character takes the audience on a deranged funhouse ride through corners of New York that are so lurid that the movie feels like it was made in the early 1980s, especially with its electronic score by Oneohtrix Point Never. And while it all feels a little too constructed to be believable, the film is superbly gripping. And even a bit moving.

Pattinson plays Connie, a low-life criminal who confidently robs a Brooklyn bank with his mentally simple brother Nick (played by Benny Safdie, who also directed the film with his brother Josh). As they flee, Connie gets away, but Nick is arrested. In need of cash to pay Nick's bail, Connie looks up his rather unstable friend Corey (Jennifer Jason Leigh), but she turns out to be a dead end. So he decides to break Nick out of jail. While working out this plan, he meets Ray (Buddy Duress), a junkie coming down from a bad trip, and 16-year-old Crystal (Taliah Webster). And both of them give Connie a new idea.

Yes, this is the kind of film that moves from one chaotic set-piece to the next with a wonderful volatility that makes it feel fresh and spontaneous. And the Safdie brothers direct it in a remarkably full-on style, mixing close-up camerawork with dramatic God's eye aerial shots. Every scene is awash in bright colour, and each actor delivers a performance that's physically kinetic and emotionally raw. None of these people are very easy to sympathise with, but they're so funny and unpredictable that we can't look away. Pattinson has never been this frantic before, and he's terrific as a smart guy with no common sense. He's the kind of guy who thinks that his next plan will finally be the one that works, even though it clearly won't.

Robert Pattinson Opens Up About Career

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson started acting because he ''fancied'' a girl in his amateur theatre company.

The 31-year-old actor has admitted his love of being in front of the camera started at a young age when he first locked eyes on a woman he had a soft spot for.

Speaking about his career to TimeOut magazine, he said: ''I joined this little amateur theatre company in Barnes, I think specifically because I fancied this girl.

Robert Pattinson And FKA Twigs Call Off Engagement

Robert Pattinson FKA Twigs

Actor Robert Pattinson and singer FKA Twigs have reportedly called time on their engagement and split up.

The Twilight star, 31, met the 29 year old London-born singer, real name Tahliah Barnett, three years ago and the two enjoyed a whirlwind romance, becoming engaged within six months in April 2015.

For the most part, barring a couple of high-profile red carpet events they’ve attended together, they’ve kept their relationship private. However, things reportedly petered out between them and they “no longer worked as a couple”, with Pattinson apparently the one to call things off.

Robert Pattinson Is Still Proving Himself

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson's declaration of independence came immediately, with David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis in 2012. "I think it was the first time when I worked on something that was quite complex," Pattinson says. "I think it's so rare for something to break a pattern, because almost everything in the world is designed to be predictable. Cosmopolis was the big turning point for me. I just realised that was what I wanted to do."

So when he first heard about independent sibling directors Josh and Benny Safdie, he knew he wanted to work with them. "When I like something, I get unbelievably enthusiastic," Pattinson laughs. "The first email I sent was like, 'I'm completely certain that we're supposed to do something together.' And they're like, 'Have you seen any of our stuff?' I said, 'Nope, don't need to see it. I know.'"

Robert Pattinson Clarifies Strange 'Good Time' Dog Comments

Robert Pattinson

This week, Robert Pattinson has been making headlines whilst promoting his upcoming film 'Good Time', but for some very odd reasons. From The Safdie Brothers, the flick sees Pattinson star as Constantine 'Connie' Nikas, a man who's on the run from the authorities but who wants to help his brother Nick (Ben Safdie) escape from prison. It's received some huge critical acclaim following advance screenings and so, the hype surrounding the film has been very high.

Chatting on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' about the movie earlier this week, Pattinson began talking about how in one particular scene, he was "sleeping with" a dog, and "basically giving the dog a hand job". He goes on to say how he was then encouraged not only by the film's director to partake in the act for real whilst being filmed, but by the dog's owner too, who gave him tips on how best to do it.

Robert Pattinson Was Asked To 'Pleasure A Dog' For New Film 'Good Time'

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson has sensationally claimed that he was asked to pleasure a dog for his latest, X-rated film Good Time – a request that he refused.

The former Twilight star features in the new heist thriller Good Time, playing a New York criminal rushing to save his younger brother and set over the course of a single evening. One scene sees his character share an intimate moment with a canine (!) and this was something that the film’s producers actually suggested that he engage in for real.

Explaining the hair-raising situation with American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night (August 3rd), the 31 year old actor said that his character had an affinity with the animal, believing he was a dog in a past life.

Robert Pattinson Breaks His Silence On FKA Twigs Engagement

Robert Pattinson FKA Twigs

They're hardly the most public of couples, but that doesn't mean that Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs aren't still going strong. In fact, the actor has confessed that they are even engaged - in some way at least - though he's still very cautious about discussing their relationship.

'The Lost City of Z' star has revealed that he is 'kind of' engaged to his girlfriend of nearly three years FKA Twigs, though the pair are rarely seen in public together. It's no wonder either, with the kind of scrutiny his love life has been under since he was with 'Twilight' co-star Kristen Stewart. He confesses that he wishes he could be more open about it, however.

Why Robert Pattinson Nearly Got Thrown Out Of 'Twilight'

Robert Pattinson

It seems that Edward Cullen almost had a different face entirely as Robert Pattinson confesses he almost got himself fired from the 'Twilight' film series due to arguing with the whole production team and trying to take more control over the development of his character.

Reflecting on his early acting career, the 31-year-old admits that he was a little too intense when it came to shooting the first 'Twilight' movie which was released in 2008. He fought with everyone from director Catherine Hardwicke to the author of the vampire novels Stephenie Meyer.
