David Fincher is renowned for some of the biggest film names of the past twenty years, including Se7en, The Social Network, Fight Club and Panic Room just to name a few. Some of these films changed the very ideology of what makes a great film; and brought something new to the chess board of movie ideas. October 2014 will see the release of an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's New York Times bestseller Gone Girl.

The book's plot is a controversial tale of lies and deceit between the two narrators; husband and wife Nick and Amy Dunne. The book has sold over two million copies worldwide, and is highly acclaimed in the eyes of its readers.

Gillian Flynn admitted on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, "My all-time favourite director is David Fincher, who I'm obsessed with and have been in a creepy weird way for a long time," . The former Entertainment Weekly critic/author has adapted the ending for the film causing concern for the die-hard fans of the book. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gillian Flynn detailed the shock of lead actor Ben Affleck, "Ben was so shocked by it. He would say 'This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch'".

Affleck, the 41 year old father of three has taken some gruelling negativity in years gone by, especially for the unconvincing role of Marvel's popular Daredevil, and very recently for being cast as the new 'Batman'. However, the actor who completed a triumphant comeback with an Oscar for Argo assures the fans of this film will not be disappointed.

"If I thought the result would be another Daredevil, I'd be out there picketing myself. Why would I make the movie if I didn't think it was going to be good and that I could be good in it?" he told Playboy, recently.

Fincher had expressed much praise for Affleck, and told Entertainment Weekly, "No one will find you out faster than the guy who made 'Argo'... Ben inherently knows what [getting that negative media attention] is like. He knows what it's like to be hunted."

With a filmography of such high calibre and an interesting cast involved, Gone Girl has the potential to sink or swim with a weary fan base lurking. The film is to be released October 3rd 2014.
