We may have already seen Diana Prince in action following 'Batman v Superman', but this ultimate female heroine has been given even more of a makeover ahead of the spin-off movie 'Wonder Woman''s release next year starring Gal Gadot.

Wonder WomanWonder Woman to hit theaters next summer

In new images released of Wonder Woman in all her costume glory, she's giving us a kind of Jedi-Spartan vibe. It's far from the bright red and blue colours of former times; after all Diana Prince has been around for thousands of years, that means her outfit has to look just as ancient.

Entertainment Weekly unveiled the shaken-up new looks which include lots of metallic plating, leather and a long black cloak - complete, of course, with a head of perfectly curled tresses.

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was a huge hit in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'. In fact, it was probably the only thing that redeemed it in the eyes of critics. And now we get to see her origins in a new story that depicts her in live action for the first time since Lynda Carter's incarnation back in the 70s.

More: Why 'Wonder Woman' needed a female director

'Wonder Woman' will be directed by Patty Jenkins in her first full-length feature since 2003's critically acclaimed Aileen Wuornos biopic 'Monster' - a movie which won Charlize Theron an Oscar for Best Actress. She's collaborating with screenwriters Allan Heinberg, Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder.

Also starring in the new movie is Chris Pine as Prince's love interest Steve Trevor; a World War II pilot who crashed on her island of Themyscira. Fellow Amazonians General Antiope and Queen Hippolyta will be played by Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen respectively, while Lucy Davis will portray Prince's best friend Etta Candy.

We've still got a long time to wait for further details, but we do know that the film will see Diana Prince venture away from her home and her warrior training in a bid to save the rest of the world from it's own ongoing turmoil.

'Wonder Woman' will hit US theaters on June 2nd 2017.
