Williams was discovered dead on 11th August 2014 and it soon became apparent he had committed suicide after battling with depression and a number of serious health problems. As a well known face, brilliant comedian and accomplished actor, Williams' tragic death touched millions of people around the world and tributes from fans, whether well-known or not, flooded in.
His family, releasing a statement shortly after his death, have understandably mourned in private and this is the first time a member of the family has publically addressed Williams' death since August.
Williams' son Zak spoke at the Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation fundraising gala on Thursday (21st November) and revealed how his family had coped since his father's death. "We're doing OK. We're acclimating to the new normal. Everything is step by step," Zak said, as E! reports.

Zak also discussed his father's close bond with the late Reeves. Reeves, the actor best known for playing Superman, sustained a spinal cord injury in 1995 which left him paralysed and wheelchair bound for the remainder of his life. He died in 2004 and the foundation, set up with his wife Dana, raises funds for research into and support for those living with spinal cord injuries.
Zak, who followed in his father's footsteps in acting, also discussed his father's relationship with Reeves. Zak described how close Williams and Reeves were and how, despite their own personal and heath issues, always wanted to help others. "They [Williams and Reeves] had a tremendous love for one another. The amazing thing about their relationship was their incredible drive to take the time to love, to help, and to appreciate others, even while they found themselves in great pain," Zak said.
Zak shares the same sentiment as Reeve and his father. Speaking at the gala, Zak explained how he and his wife had been "on doing a lot of good." He further explained how his wife runs the San Francisco office of Human Rights Watch and together they had been "working with them to do good in the world."
