Sean Price passed away on Saturday (8th August), his music company confirmed to a number of media outlets. The 43-year-old was found dead in his apartment in Brooklyn. His cause of death is unknown at this point but he reportedly passed away during his sleep.

Brooklyn-born Price was best known as a member of the rap groups Boot Camp Clik and Random Axe. He also worked, under the name Ruck, with Rock A.K.A Jahmal Bush in the rap duo Heltah Skeltah. Price enjoyed a solo career and he released his last album, Mic Tyson, in 2012. 

"It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment,” his music company said in a statement, as NY Daily News reports.

"The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He's survived by his wife, and his three children."

Many of those from the hip-hop community have expressed their sadness at learning of Price’s loss. Amongst them were DJ Premier, Killer Mike, Black Thought and 9th Wonder.

‘My heart hurts,’ 9th Wonder wrote. ‘Sean Price is gone. Rest in Paradise legend.’

Whilst Killer Mike described Price as a “Mic God, lyrical Warrior and supreme Emcee,’ adding ‘RIP Sean Price.’
