Adele could be on the verge of making her acting debut, as a new report indicates that she’s in early talks to reunite with director Xavier Dolan for his upcoming movie The Death and Life of F Donovan.

According to Screen Daily and Deadline, the 27 year old singer is discussing with the up-and-coming French-Canadian director whether she could play a small, unspecified part in the drama. Dolan and Adele have worked together in the recent past, as he took charge of the video to her single ‘Hello’, which recently broke viewing records for the most hits in 24 hours.

26 year old Dolan’s new movie, his first English-language project, already has an impressive cast, including Jessica Chastain, Kit Harington, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates. The plot focusses on an American actor who finds himself at the centre of a storm of media outrage when his correspondence with an 11 year old is made public by a gossip columnist.

Soon after the video for ‘Hello’ was released at the end of October, Adele gave an interview in which she admitted that she was willing to work for Dolan again. “I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier,” she told Kiss FM. “I would be in a film for him, definitely.”

Dolan has won masses of critical acclaim for his previous movies, including for his fourth picture Mommy which shared the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. The young auteur returned this year as part of the jury.

Speaking about her motivation for acting, Adele admitted that it certainly didn’t come from her past recollections of pop stars making the leap into the world of film.

“I feel like a bit of c*** after saying for all these years I'd never act, because I really enjoyed it. I don't like it when those singers start acting, it makes them mediocre. But I don't quite know what I'd be cast as anyway.”
