Adele made a couple’s engagement extra special on Tuesday night, when she invited them on stage after spotting the romantic proposal. The singer, who was playing a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena, was performing hit ‘Make You Feel My Love’, when she spied the lovebirds in the audience and called them to join her on the stage.

Adele had noticed a man in the crowd getting down on one knee when she was half-way through the romantic song and immediately stopped to invite them up on stage. “They just got engaged!” she exclaimed. "Come up here you two”.

"I thought there was a fight at first,” Adele continued, as the nervous couple joined her on stage. Shielding the woman’s eyes from the blinding stage lights she told her: ”I know, I get stage fright too, deal with it”.

The couple, who are named Johnny and Natalie, revealed that they’d been together for 12 years and have a young son named Alfie. Adele asked Natalie how she’d managed to hear her boyfriend over the music, to which she replied "This is our song”.

"That was the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed at one of my shows,” Adele said. Speaking to MailOnline Natalie revealed that she had no idea the proposal was coming. “He has mentioned in a joking way that he will propose to me but I just thought 'yeah, whatever’,” she said.

"We were about three rows back and our song came on. He proposed to me and when Adele saw it everyone looked round at us with their cameras. It was mad."

"And then to be asked onto the stage – I was in total shock. It was amazing to meet Adele. She said congratulations. This was my early 30th birthday present but I never expected anything like this."
