Superstar singer Adele has made an extraordinary claim about her powerful voice - that it’s got worse since she quit smoking. The Hello hitmaker made the decision to quit five years ago when she had a vocal cord haemorrhage in 2011 and had to undergo surgery.

However, Metro has reported that the 28-year-old star has since revealed to Canadian entertainment show, etalk that kicking the habit has actually made her vocals worse.

The Chasing Pavements singer said: "The people with the best voices, they always smoke. I’ve given up smoking and I’m convinced that’s made my voice weaker."

But the mum-of-one added: "My fingers ain’t orange anymore!"

Despite the positives, Adele, who used to smoke up to 25 cigarettes a day at the height of her addiction, explained that when people smoke around her, it makes her miss it.

The multi-Grammy award-winner last year worked on a track, All I Ask, with Bruno Mars and his addiction made her realise what she’s missing out on.

She said: "Bruno smokes like an old woman. My make-up artist will stink after having a fag. I had never noticed it before."

Adele had hit the headlines recently when she dedicated one of her shows to the Brangelina split calling it "the end of an era".

But during her following concert, it seemed she’d changed her mind and she said: "That’s not front page news."
