At some point in 2012, we reckon Adele woke up and thought to herself “hmmm… which globally recognized awards ceremony have I not completely and utterly OWNED yet?” The Brits were out, of course, as were the Grammy Awards, both of which she’s stamped her mark on. Billboard awards? Owned. MTV Europe Music Awards? Meh, still a bit of work to do, but getting there. What about the Oscars, though? The grandest awards ceremony in the land?
Well, fear not, Adele fans, for the 24 year-old Brit will indeed be owning the Academy Awards on February 24, 2013, E! Online have revealed. Adele is scheduled to perform her song ‘Skyfall,’ the title track from the latest James Bond movie soundtrack. Not only will she be performing live, but she’s the favorite to win the Best Original Song award, too. Live performances from Adele are few and far between these days. In fact, this will be the singer’s first live performance since she performed at the 2012 Grammy Awards show. It’s also the first since giving birth to her son. “It's an honor to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again,” she gushed in a statement. "It's something I've never experienced and probably only ever will once!”
