A Ukrainian Tv prankster who gatecrashed Adele's big moment onstage at the Grammy Awards in February (13) has been slapped with two misdemeanour charges and now faces six months in jail.
Vitalii Sediuk took the microphone from shocked presenter Jennifer Lopez as the soul singer made her way to the stage to accept her Best Pop Solo Performance and quickly congratulated Adele before making an awkward exit.
He was detained by security backstage and arrested.
The prankster, who upset Will Smith at the Men in Black 3 premiere in Russia by trying to kiss the actor on the red carpet, has now been charged with one count of willfully leaving a spectator area and entering a performance area and one count of interfering and delaying program participants. He faces six months behind bars and a $1,000 (£650) fine for each offence.
Sediuk will be arraigned at the Los Angeles Superior Court on 31 May (13).
At a hearing on Tuesday (16Apr13), Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich said, "The safety and protection of both participants and attendees of major events held in this city is a priority of my office. In this age of heightened security, any person who intentionally crosses that line and acts in an irresponsible manner will be held accountable for his or her actions."
Sediuk was also detained at the Oscars ceremony in February (13), while attempting to enter the prizegiving ceremony wearing a Bjork-inspired swan dress.
