Jennifer Lopez was one of the many celebrities who gave Ben Affleck a standing ovation when he received the Golden Globe for Best Director on Sunday evening (January 13, 2013). Talking later to Ellen DeGeneres, Lopez - the former fiance of Affleck - said she loved his latest movie Argo and was happy to see the actor-turned-director getting the acclaim he deserves.

Some commentators noticed how close Lopez was to old flame Affleck at the Globes, though the R&B star was quick to remind DeGeneres that she still sees her ex from time-to-time. "We run in the same circles," she said. As for Argo - Affleck's critically acclaimed movie that's up for Best Picture at the Oscars - Lopez said, "It was a great movie. And, we [her and Affleck] got you know, a lot of...They were really hard on us in the press when we dated back in the day, on movies and things like that. So, it was a nice moment. It was a nice to see him have that moment. I was really happy for him." Essentially, Lopez meant that both she and Ben made some very, very, bad movies earlier in their careers and that Affleck now makes very, very, good movies. Argo holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with CNN saying, "Affleck himself turns in a quietly impressive movie star performance. Tony Mendez is a kind of anti-Bourne, comfortable with his anonymity, living off his wits, not his fists."

Affleck was set to marry Lopez on September 14, 2004, though the couple split just days before the ceremony. He is now happily married to the actress Jennifer Garner.
