Bruce Willis' new Die Hard movie has blown away the competition at the U.K. box office 25 years after the first picture hit cinemas.
A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth installment in the action franchise, earned $7.2 million (£4.5 million) over the weekend (15-17Feb13), proving Hollywood tough guy Willis has lost none of his appeal a quarter of a century on from the 1988 original.
The movie knocked Wreck-It Ralph into second place, with the animated kids' comedy trailing the Die Hard sequel at $5.5 million (£3.4 million).
Judd Apatow's new comedy This Is 40 debuted at three with takings of $1.9 million (£1.2 million), leaving movie musical Les Miserables behind at four with $1.8 million (£1.1 million).
Supernatural film Beautiful Creatures rounded out the top five with earnings of $1.7 million (£1.1 million).
Danny Dyer's new movie Run for Your Wife failed to touch the chart following its Friday (15Feb13) release - it earned just $963 (£602) from nine cinema venues.
