Celine Dion Has Promised To Put Her Life On Hold And Rush To Her Ailing Husband Rene Angelil's Side If He Gets Really Sick, Because He Wants To Spend His Final Moments In His Wife's Arms.
The singer has taken time out of the spotlight in recent years to care for her husband and longtime manager Angelil as he battles throat cancer, even bowing out of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace last year (14) to help him though a particularly difficult stage.
But, after encouragement from Angelil to step back on the stage, Dion returns to her post in Sin City on Thursday (27Aug15), and she admits the first night back will not be easy.
She tells USA Today, "That first show, it will be fragile. There will be moments of emptiness, laughter, awkwardness, tearing up. But that's the point of coming back - otherwise, I would just release an album."
And, as she continues to care for Angelil, Dion says she's determined to stay strong for her husband until the end.
She says, "You can have your shaking knees at the end, but when someone you love falls and needs help, it's not time to cry. Afterwards, sure. But not yet.
"Sometimes he just wants me to enter into a different place with him. I'll say, 'You're scared? I understand. Talk to me about it.' And Rene says to me, 'I want to die in your arms.' Okay, fine, I'll be there, you'll die in my arms."
Dion and Angelil have been married for 21 years and are parents to three sons, Rene-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy.
