Celine Dion has given her first interview since the death of her husband Rene Angelil four months ago, revealing how she broke the news to their young children and sharing the last words she said to him before he died.

The 48 year old Canadian superstar spoke to ABC News’ Deborah Roberts in a clip due to be aired on Wednesday (May 18th), and said that she laid next to Angelil in bed in his final moments, revealing what she said to him.

“You were worrying for my career. You were worrying for the children. You were worrying for everything. It's enough. Do you trust me? Please do. Trust me,” she said. “The kids are fine. I'm fine. I promise you we're gonna be OK. Please leave in peace. I don't want you to worry.”

Angelil passed away on January 14th at the age of 73 at their Las Vegas home after a lengthy battle with cancer. They had been married for 21 years, Angelil having also been his wife’s long-time manager. He and Dion had three children together: Rene-Charles, 15, and twin boys Eddy and Nelson, 5.

She also said that she used the 2009 Pixar movie Up to help explain to her two youngest about what had happened to their father.

“Before I told them that their dad was not there, I talked about when we, everybody, gets sick. Then I said, ‘Do you remember the movie Up?'” she recalled. “It's one of our favorites. 'Oh,' they said, ‘Yes, Ellie went up. You know, she, with the balloons.’ And I said, ‘Well, yeah… You know, today Papa went up.'”

They then went outside to release balloons into the sky. “We're gonna say, 'Papa, we love you. Have a good up.' And we're gonna spread this, and it's gonna go to him.”

The interview was the first time she's spoken about her husband's passing, although she did summon the strength to return to the stage to perform in late February.
