It is only a matter of weeks before 'Captain America: The Winter Solider' is released in theatres across the globe, and fans of the Marvel Comics superhero are very eager to see how 'Captain America' deals with his new foe, the unanticipated, highly dangerous 'Winter Soldier'.

Captain America
Chris Evans reprises his role as 'Captain America'

Like the other Marvel Studio instalments since 'The Avengers' (2012), this sequel occurs two years after the events in New York City, and although 'Steve Rogers' is still struggling to adjust to the modern world, he is still heavily involved with 'S.H.I.E.L.D', even if he isn't convinced with certain aspects of their ethics.

This is highlighted in the trailer when the leader of S.H.E.I.L.D, Alexander Pierce, says in ana ominous voiceover, "To build a better world, sometimes that means tearing the old one down, and that means enemies."

Robert Redford
Robert Redford makes his Marvel film debut as the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D

However, after a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. is assassinated, Rogers and the rest of the organisation band together to try and figure out who is behind the attack, but as the All-American hero fights off a tirade of assassins, an unexpected adversary, who can match the Captain's inhuman strength and speed, emerges.

From the trailer, the all-powerful villain is a mysterious, half-masked hit-man who is determined to wage war on S.H.I.E.L.D, from dismantling cars with his own hands in great feats of strength, to outrunning 'Captain America', and in one scene even catching the superhero's famed shield, easily demonstrates that this is an adversary like no other.

Captain America
Scarlett Johansson returns as 'Black Widow'

Accompanying 'Captain America (Chris Evans) in this journey is the returning Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). In this instalment, the eager fans will finally meet the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford), the Captain's ally 'Falcon' (Anthony Mackie) and finally 'The Winter Soldier', played by Sebastian Stan.

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, hits theatres April 4th.
