On the day of the release of her brand new album, Miley Cyrus has reflected on her drastic image change from four years ago, saying that 2013’s ‘Wrecking Ball’ and its music video no longer reflect her personality.

Cyrus, whose sixth studio album Younger Now is released on Friday (September 29th), recently rued that she’s “never living down” the song, particularly its raunchy and iconoclastic music video that featured her riding nude on the titular wrecking ball.

“I should be grateful every f***ing day for that song, and I am,” the 24 year old singer reflected in an interview with NME. “I think people look at things that they’ve done and there is this sense of shame, or ‘I wish I wouldn’t have done that’ — not because I’m naked, by the way. It’s because I feel like I’m in a deeper songwriting place.”

Four years ago, the formerly squeaky-clean Miley Cyrus undertook a daring overhaul of her image and lifestyle, alienating many former fans in the process for her newly-discovered rebellious streak while breaking off with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

Now, the ex-Disney star has spoken in a candid new interview with Billboard magazine about how she’s given up smoking marijuana and has also quit alcohol. She also admitted that this was a change in her life that she wouldn’t have considered until quite recently.

“I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it]” Cyrus said. “I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now! That was just something that I wanted to do.”

Miley Cyrus is to perform one of her upcoming live shows with The Flaming Lips completely naked. In what is surely an attempt to be the most searched term ever for a pop concert, the Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne announced that one of their six gigs with Cyrus across North America would be performed with the band, and the audience, completely nude.

Coyne posted via his Instagram page on Tuesday (October 13th), along with a split picture of Cyrus and his band, that everybody on stage would be playing without clothes “milk (well, white stuff that looks like milk) is spewed everywhere”, and that the results would be filmed for a promo video for the song ‘The Milky Milky Milk’, taken from their recent collaboration album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz.

Pop megastar Ed Sheeran and TV star Ruby Rose have been unveiled as the co-hosts for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Milan.

Both stars have revealed their excitement at being selected to host the event together, which is being held at the Mediolanum Forum in the northern Italian city on October 25th.

Sheeran announced to his 15 million Twitter followers on Wednesday (September 30th) that he had been picked to present. “So happy to say I'm hosting the #MTVEMAs on 25th October! Cannot wait,” he wrote.

The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that a MAC cosmetics advertisement featuring singer Miley Cyrus should not be banned, despite complaints that it was ‘overtly sexual’. The billboards were to promote Cyrus’ Viva Glam range, which raised money for MAC’s AIDS fund.

Miley Cyrus’ MAC ad was not overtly sexual, the ASA has ruled. 

In the campaign Cyrus is pictured wearing a low-cut bodysuit with her legs apart against a mirrored wall. Another poster showed a similar picture with the reflection of the singer’s crotch partially visible in the mirror.
