It's been quite a busy year for Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl, having unveiled his music documentary What Drives Us as well as his debut book The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music. Then there's the series From Cradle To Stage based on his mother's memoirs, Foo Fighters' tenth studio album Medicine at Midnight, the band's Global Icon win at the MTV Video Music Awards and of course his stunning collaboration with Halsey.

The coronavirus seems to be affecting every area of our lives including music at the moment, so we've decided to give it its own section in our Weekly Music Highlights. Along with the Nashville tornado disaster and Riz Ahmed's Brexit truths, we hope music will be a way to bring us together in these tough times.

The home of country music, Nashville, Tennessee, was struck by four tornadoes on Tuesday (March 3rd) killing 25 people and destroying numerous buildings and homes. Today a benefit gig under the name 'To Nashville, With Love' will take place at the Marathon Music Works, with acts such as Soccer Mommy, Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Dan Auerbach and more set to perform. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has donated $1million to a relief fund and expressed her own devastation over the damage of the city she calls home, and a number of guitar companies such as Gibson, Heritage and Harmony are also offering their support to any musicians who may have lost equipment in the disaster with new replacement schemes.

Tenacious D ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM + ANIMATED SERIES

Comedy music duo Tenacious D have announced their grand return to music after six years away. Comprising comedian Jack Black and bandmate Kyle Gass, Tenacious D’s new album will be titled Post-Apocalypto.

Produced by John Spiker, the record will also feature Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on drums. It’s available on November 2nd via streaming, CD and translucent green vinyl.

Actor and musician Jack Black has become the latest victim of a celebrity death hoax after a poor-taste Twitter prank. The Twitter account of Black’s band Tenacious D was hacked early on Sunday morning and announced that he had passed away at the age of 46.

Jack Black is alive and well.

The hacker first tweeted: ‘I'm sad to officially announce the death of Jack Black at the age of 46, rest in peace brother.’ They then followed with: ‘It is with a heavy heart I am to announce that Jack Black passed away last night at 3:37am. The cause of death is yet unknown.’
