Ed Sheeran will do a lot of things; he’ll perform and write for nearly anyone, but not One Direction. THAT’S where he draws the line, according to MTV anyway.

He said: "I haven't done any songs on this one. I've actually kind of cut myself from giving any people songs at the moment, because I want to make my album. I was approached, and it wasn't so much a 'No'. It was just a 'I want to write tunes for myself at the moment'. Once my album's done, then we'll see, but their album is already finished." So it’s not that he’s drawing the line anyway, he just wants to make some money first, then give away his frankly highly saleable songs. One Direction's label Colombia told MTV News: "The guys are still very much working on their new album." They will be teaming up again with McFly's Tom Fletcher and producer Julian Bunetta on their third album. Julian said: "We were hanging out, working on a few new things. Obviously, we're working on new music, but they didn't say what the new music is for. It might be for nothing. It might only be for my ears... or it might be something that gets put out for the world to hear."

The Ed man opened up a bit more on his new work in an interview with parade.com. “I’ve actually written more songs on tour in this short period of time than I ever have,” he said. “My new album will be out next year. I would be releasing it this year, but since I finish the Red Tour so late in the year, it would mean a Christmas release, and I’m not competing with the big guns at Christmas!" he continued.
