The hit action flick Divergent hit cinemas with a bang earlier this year. Adapted from the popular trilogy of novels by Veronica Roth and set within a dystopian, post apocalyptic Chicago with a population divided into distinct factions based on their human virtues, it was only a matter of time until words were transformed into a slick, action packed big screen adaptation.
The young and talented Shailene Woodley was the actress carefully selected to tell the thrilling story of Tris Prior who learns that she is Divergent and therefore will never be able to fit into any of these factions whilst quickly learning that there is a sinister plot brewing in her seemingly perfect society.
With a fanbase that is constantly growing, Divergent grossed an impressive $274 million worldwide, cementing the franchise as a serious force in science fiction cinema entertainment and igniting serious excitement about the film's sequel, Insurgent, which will be released in 2015.
Playing a major role in setting the scene within the film is its impressive soundtrack which has an incredible cast all of its own. Amongst its ranks are the undeniable talents of UK singer songwriter, Ellie Goulding, who worked closely with electronic music producer 'Junkie XL' (Tom Holkenborg). Ellie Goulding supplied a substantial amount of creative input on the development of the soundtrack providing her unique vocals and song writing skills on tracks positioned throughout the whole score.
The official Divergent single, 'Beating heart', co-written and performed by Ellie Goulding, debuted on the UK singles chart at number 9 and gained Ellie her 7th top 10 single. In addition to Ellie and Junkie XL's contributions to the soundtrack, artists such as Pia Mia, Skrillex and Snow Patrol contributed to the soundtrack which, along with the DVD, Blu-ray and digital download of the film itself, are all available to buy now.
