It’s official – she announced it on the radio this morning – Ellie Goulding’s track, How Will I Love You, is the 2013 Children in Need single. The singer follows in the footsteps of pop legends the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud by heading up the charity’s musical fundraising.

Goulding has sold more than 15 million singles and 4 million albums worldwide. She recently enjoyed a hit in the UK with Burn and it's now been selected as the official single for the 2013 appeal, raising money to support disadvantaged children and young people in the UK – a pretty good year!

The 26-year-old singer made her name with her debut album, Lights, which sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. She won the BBC's Sound of 2010 poll and the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year.

“I’ve grown up watching BBC Children in Need so it’s fantastic that I’m doing this year’s single!” she said. “It is an emotional song, but in a really positive way, and I’ve been completely blown away with the positive reaction it’s had already.”

She also took to social networking to convey her delight, posting on Twitter to her two-million-odd followers: “Very proud that How Long Will I Love You is the official CIN song x.”

The first performance of the single will be broadcast on the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show airing live on BBC One on Friday, November 15th at 7:30pm. You can pre-order Charity single from the 7th of October and grab it as a full download from 10th November.
