The sale at the singer's estate in Memphis, Tennessee was held during Elvis Week, which commemorates the Heartbreak Hotel hitmaker's death on 16 August, 1977.

Among the 160 items up for grabs was a Walther PPK handgun engraved with the star's name and TCB in memory of his band, which sold for $96,000 (£60,000), and a diamond and gold pendant given to Davis, Jr. which brought in $40,000 (£25,000).

Other lots included a racquetball shirt worn by Presley, which went for $32,500 (£20,313), a suit he wore in the movie It Happened At The World's Fair, which made $25,000 (£15,625), and Presley's U.S. Army sewing kit, which garnered a winning bid of $2,750 (£1,719).
