The Training Day star will portray the trumpeter in Born to Be Blue, a film which will centre on Baker's efforts to rebuild his career in the 1970s.
The Purge: Anarchy's Carmen Ejogo and The Butterfly Effect's Callum Keith Rennie will also appear in the movie, which is currently filming in Ontario, Canada under the directorship of Robert Budreau.
