Gary Barlow has landed back in the UK.

The Take That singer had been stranded in the Solomon Islands - near Papua New Guinea - for the last week and had to get a search and rescue boat in order to miss Cyclone Daphne, which was headed toward the island.

Seemingly unstirred by his ordeal, he tweeted: ''In Pappa Nuigini getting flight to Singapore #homebound

He later updated: ''Just landed in Singapore. Home seems a lot closer all of a sudden #noplacelikehome.(sic)''

While Gary appeared calm about the situation, he admitted to missing some of his home comforts.

He added: ''British Airways put the kettle on! I haven't had a decent cup of tea in 3 weeks.''

Then his final post was from home, reading: ''Just touched down in the wet and cold UK! Love this place,so happy to be home #stillthebest. (sic)''

Gary had been on the islands - which gained independence from the UK in 1978 but retain Queen Elizabeth as their Head Of State - to film a documentary for the monarch's forthcoming Diamond Jubilee, when she celebrates her 60th year on The Throne.

Earlier in his ordeal Gary - who is expecting his fourth child with wife Dawn - had tweeted: ''We're stranded on an island in the Solomons. There's a cyclone heading our way and there's no way off. Gonna have to sit it out!!

''Powers back on. The lovely government here are sending a search and rescue boat for us this morning #adventure.''
