Axl, 54, has been extremely busy this year, fronting a reunited GUNS N' ROSES line-up and filling in for the indisposed Brian Johnson as the lead singer of AC DC.

However the rock superstar wants to take his career in a surprising direction by writing movie scores, as he is obsessed with film soundtracks.

“I mainly listen to the music that’s playing during movies," the rocker said in an interview at London's China Exchange venue earlier this week (beg06Jun16). "It can be the theme to Pirates of the Caribbean, The Equalizer, stuff like that.

"I like the blend of orchestra with modern instrumentation. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do. I was more interested in that than staying in Guns N’ Roses. It would have been easier and more fun. I have a lot of respect for people that do that.”

When asked what kind of films he'd like to score, and whether he'd consider writing the music for a new movie version of Austen's 19th century tale of love and morality, Axl enthusiastically replied, "Yeah, I would."

The last time the iconic book was turned into a film was in 2005, when Joe Wright directed a version which featured Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Judi Dench, Matthew MACfadyen and Donald Sutherland.

The music for the film was written by Italian composer Dario Marianelli.

Axl will have to fit any movie scoring around his extensive touring commitments with Guns N' Roses, as the band, who reunited in January (16) are set to begin a trek around North America later this month (Jun16).

The rocker is also fronting AC DC in the absence of their usual singer Brian Johnson, who has been sidelined from the band due to hearing problems.

Axl is scheduled to finish his stint with the Highway to Hell musicians later this year (16) when they have fulfilled their existing touring commitments, but has indicated an interest in continuing as the group's frontman.
