Not only did Gwynteth Paltrow beat Beyoncé this year for People Magazine’s Most Beautiful woman, but last year’s winner wasn’t even on the list! Anyway, according to Paltrow, it’s not even true.

"It's funny, these things, because it's like obviously not true,” she explained last night at the premiere for Iron Man 3. “But it's very sweet to be named that," Paltrow told The Associated Press. "Because I mean you can't say that, you know! But it's been wonderful. It's been very wonderful. And as my friend said, it's so nice that someone who has kids and is a mom and is not like 21 is named that. It's really an honor." If she doesn’t think it’s true, then her co-stars do. "Completely justified. Completely justified. She's gorgeous," said Guy Pearce. "Let me tell you: She is as gracious and beautiful inside as she is outside. She's got a good heart. She's got a good heart. A lovely girl," said Ben Kingsley.

It’s difficult to escape the nagging feeling that she received this yearly gong simple because her stock is up. Anyone in that list could have been named ‘most beatiful’, but with a starring role in first real blockbuster of the year, her second cookbook, It's All Good, and a newly launched lifestyle and clothing website, Paltrow represents a strong, independent business-woman, as well as a successful actress – maybe they should call their award that. Perhaps not as catchy, though.
