The authors views have lead to a campaign to boycott the movie version of his classic
After a public campaign for people to boycott the movie version of Orsen Scott Cards’s legendary sci fi novel, Ender’s Game, the author has responded with an official statement, in which he states that the issue of gay marriage is “moot” due to the recent law change.

Gay organization Geeks Out didn’t want people to see the film; the boycott was designed to send out a clear message to any people who are anti-gay or anti-gay marriage. "Do not buy a ticket at the theater, do not purchase the DVD, do not watch it on-demand. Ignore all merchandise and toys. However much you may have admired his books, keep your money out of Orson Scott Card’s pockets," the organization writes on its "Skip Ender's Game" website.
Harrison Ford stars in Ender's Game
Scott-Card’s statement attempts to dissacociate the film from current political context, but he doesn’t move to either confirm or deny his thoughts on homosexuality. “Ender’s Game is set more than a century in the future and has nothing to do with political issues that did not exist when the book was written in 1984,” he writes. “With the recent Supreme Court ruling, the gay marriage issue becomes moot. The Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution will, sooner or later, give legal force in every state to any marriage contract recognized by any other state.”
Ender’s Game – the military sci fi book written back in 1985 by Scott-Card – follows a dishevelled mankind after two attacks from Aliens known as “Buggers”. With a third impending attack on the horizon, the book sees Ender Wiggin – one of the many Battle School students – apply his skills to a real life attack.
