In addition, with Catching Fire playing in 4,163 theaters across the country, it also easily topped the previous Thanksgiving Day record. On Thursday, the film grossed $14.9 million, surpassing the previous record holder – Toy Story 3 with $13.1 million. On a global scale, the film has raked in around $423 million so far. While people seem to be enjoying the dystopian story of the poor districts of Panem rebelling against the rich and uncaring Capitol in Catching Fire, as well as the story of a princess, rushing to save her frozen kingdom from the thrall of her confused sister in Frozen, not all premieres this week have done similarly well.
