An altercation with a paparazzo from earlier this summer has caught up with Kanye West.
Kanye West has joined the growing group of celebrities, who have fought back against invasive paparazzi – quite literally in his case. The rapper has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft for allegedly attacking photographer Daniel Ramos. According to TMZ, the incident happened at LAX airport on July 19th, however, it won’t be until October 10th when West is called into court.
The rapper has been charged following his reported attack on a paparazzo.
According to the website, on the day of the encounter, Kanye went off at the paparazzo, who approached him as West was leaving the airport. The photographer was badly injured. He has now enlisted the services of Gloria Allred in the lawsuit against West.
This happened after Kanye had issued multiple warnings to paparazzi to keep their distance – understandable, considering that the new dad seemed to keep quite a low profile following the birth of daughter North West with Kim Kardashian. This, despite the fact that the rapper had just released Yeezus around that time.
K & K have been sticking to their privacy as much as possible.
Emotional outburst or not, however, he faces serious punishment. If found guilty, West could be sentenced to up to a year in jail. His own lawyer, Blair Burk, was not reached for comment by TMZ. West is the second member of the Kardashian clan to receive charges in the past week. While he was nailed for past incidents, Khloe Kardashian’s husband Lamar Odom got nailed for a DUI last Friday. Hopefully this doesn’t become a pattern with them.
If convicted, West could face some serious jail time.
