Kanye West may have lost one or two Australian fans.

The 36 year-old rap star has postponed several shows that were scheduled to take place down under to work on his latest studio album.

West is currently on a worldwide tour to promote his sixth studio album ‘Yeezus’.

Live Nation Australasia delivered the news on Tuesday morning (April 1st), and reps for the concert promotion company were forced to confirm this wasn’t an April fool’s prank.

A statement released from Live Nation read; “Due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release, Kanye West regretfully announces the postponement of his upcoming tour dates in Australia.”

The original tour dates were scheduled for five cities and seven-dates, starting from May 2nd to May 11th, but these have now been rescheduled from September 5th until September 15th.

For obvious reasons, there is already heavy speculation tha the cancelations could be a result of his wedding to Kim Kardashian, as the celebrity couple are expected to tie the knot in Paris on May 24th.

The ‘Black Skinhead’ rapper will still go ahead with his summer concerts scheduled for UK and European festivals, and Live Nation also stated West is “looking forward to returning to the U.K and Europe for a full tour in January 2015.”

News surfaced last December (2013) of Kanye’s desire that his seventh studio album will be released this summer, but he also said that it will only contain eight songs because he is “reducing down the amount of information you need.”

It seems West's studio sets are getting shorter and shorter, 'Yeezus' has been his shortest to date with just 10 songs and a running time of 40 minutes, which differs from the usual 12-13 songs that West usually settles on.

He has also reunited with producers Q-Tip and Rick Ruben on the newest project.
