The assault case against Kanye West has been resolved without going into court.
Kanye West has settled in the case, raised against him earlier this month after he allegedly assaulted an 18-year-old man. The unnamed teenager has reportedly been paid $250 000. According to sources for TMZ, he feels satisfied with the outcome and is not planning to pursue criminal charges. The website also claims that the man was originally asking for a figure, close to a million.
West's side of the story is that he was simply defending his fiancee against harrassment.
The DA is still undecided on whether or not to press criminal charges against West. Pressing charges could prove difficult, because at this point, the DA has an uncooperative victim. Additional circumstances around the event, such as the claim that the victim hurled racial slurs at Kim and Kanye added to the couple’s popularity, make the case almost impossible to defend.
The alleged victim is reluctant to press criminal charges against the rapper.
The incident occurred earlier in January, in the waiting room of a chiropractor, TMZ reports. The incident began with the man yelling racial comments towards the paparazzi, swarming the couple. When Kardashian told the man not to use that kind of language, he reportedly responded with “Shut up n****r lover.”
This was the moment at which West, having just arrived, allegedly punched the man. Neither Kim, nor Kanye spoke out immediately after the incident. At this point it seems like whatever happened, West is now off the hook.
Thanks to the couple's popularity and the murky circumstances around the incident, the DA is also unlikely to pursue criminal charges.
