Kiesza (born Kiesa Rae Ellestad 16.01.89) is a singer songwriter from Canada.
Childhood: Kiesza grew up in Calgary, Canada. Her parents divorced when she was 18. At 17, she landed the position of Naval Communicator in the Royal Canadian Navy reserves, during which time she learned guitar. She also did various styles of dancing in the Young Canadians. She studied music at Selkirk College before transferring to Berklee College of Music. She then moved to New York to further pursue a music career.
Career: She released her tongue-in-cheek debut single 'Oops' in 2012. The following year she appeared on Donkeyboy's song 'Triggerfinger'. She has written music for Kylie, Rihanna and Icona Pop. Her number one single 'Hideaway' was released in 2014 through Lokal Legend, with the titular album being released later that year. She also recorded a cover of Haddaway's 'What Is Love' and her second single was entitled 'Giant In My Heart'. She worked with Diplo and Skrillex on 'Take You There', taken from their collaborative mixtape, and also worked on Gorgon City and Jennifer Hudson's 'Go All Night'.
