Kim Kardashian still believes in love.

The reality TV star has had a hard time since the break-up of her marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries last October after just 72 days, but said she has learned from the process and still believes she could fall in love again.

Speaking about the split on the 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno', she said: ''I learned so much, and the things I care about in my life have completely changed.

''I still believe in love. I'm in love with love. I thought this was it for me.''

Kim, 31, moved in with her mother, Kris Jenner after the separation for four months and said she gave up wearing high heels and make-up, and only had one bag of clothes.

She added: ''It was a touchy period, really hard to go through, probably the toughest thing.''

Kim - who was previously married to Damon Thomas between 2000 and 2004 - also admitted her family had reservations about her marrying Kris, but she didn't want to listen to them.

The socialite - who agreed to have her nuptials televised - added: ''I'm a person, when I'm in love, you can't tell me anything. And you gotta go through it yourself. So, I did what I believed in doing, and sometimes you don't want to hear what your family has to say.

''You look back and you're like, 'Maybe I should have listened to them.' But, I wouldn't have been who I am today had I not gone through that.''

Kim also said she wasn't prepared for the media scrutiny which surrounded her fairytale wedding in August last year, which reportedly cost up to $10 million.

She added: ''I pride myself on being an open book. We share our lives on a reality show. But, I didn't know the media would be so brutal with it.''
