The contest, that will see two lucky winners picked by the singer's Haus of Gaga, has sparked controversy. Billboard has confirmed that multiple purchases of the new single will count towards the music charts even if they're bought by the same person, fuelling anger that Gaga is exploiting her fans' devotion to get her to No.1 quicker.

The Examiner has claimed to have found evidence that some fans have spent in excess of $300 trying to get themselves noticed by the star. However, to make things fair to fans from all walks of life, the singer claims that photos, radio requests and tweets will count too. "The TechHaus will collect your data as it feeds through Twitter, & remember it's not just about purchases, we will choose creative monsters!" she tweeted.

After her lead single, 'Applause,' from Artpop leaked, the singer declared a "911 pop emergency" as her Little Monster's scrambled to "plug" the leak by reported illegal uploads and links to record company UMG. After the damage was too widespread, Gaga dropped the single immediately - a week earlier than had been originally planned. Her fans were whipped into a frenzy at the unexpected release, especially now the competition of a lifetime is being offered at the same time. How long until one of them sells a kidney?
