Lady GaGa performed acoustic version of her singles 'Born This Way' and 'Edge of Glory' at Rome's EuroPride event in Rome this week, and urged equality for all gay people.
Lady GaGa performed a stripped-down piano set at Rome's EuroPride gay rights rally on Saturday (11.06.11).
The 25-year-old pop star sang 'Born This Way' and 'The Edge of Glory' at the event held at the Circus Maximus site - a former ancient Roman chariot racing stadium - and addressed the huge crowd to highlight the need for homosexual people to have equal rights across the world.
Wearing a blue wig and a Versace gown, she said: "We're all from the same DNA. We were just born this way. I stand here as a woman of the world and I ask governments, with you, worldwide to facilitate our dream of equality.
"Let us be revolutionaries of love and use our very strong human powers to save lives and encourage unity around the world."
The eccentric singer also revealed she is regularly questioned as to how "gay" she is.
She told the crowd of an estimated one million people: "I am often asked, 'How gay are you, Lady Gaga?' My answer is, 'I am a child of Diversity.' "
Gaga is often outspoken about her opinions about equal rights, and asked her fans in Malaysia to "protest peaceably" when it was revealed her hit 'Born This Way' would be censored for the words, "no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian or transgendered life, I'm on the right track, baby" on non-government radio stations.
She said: "All the young people in Malaysia that want those words to be played on the radio, it is your job and it is your duty as young people to have your voices heard.
"You must do everything that you can if you want to be liberated by your society. You must call, you must not stop, you must protest peaceably."
