Leonardo Dicaprio Is Reportedly Hoping To Build An Eco-resort On An Island Off The Coast Of Belize.
DiCaprio, a longtime conservationist, wants to turn the 104-acre island estate into a luxury resort complete with villas worth up to $15 million (£9.3 million) each.
He reportedly brought the land almost ten years ago for $1.75 million (£1 million) and now hopes to create an environment-friendly haven for guests.
The Titanic star has created a plan for project Restorative Island, which shows villas set atop a platform arcing through the water, along with artificial reefs to protect marine life.
Marine grass will be grown in a nursery to support a manatee conservation area and mangroves will be replanted.
According to the New York Times, DiCaprio is seeking advice from Paul Scialla, the chief executive of New York development firm Delos, and plans to open the resort in 2018.
