Matthew Mcconaughey has won the Oscar for Best Actor. reciprocates
As we predicted, Matthew Mcconaughey's remarkable career turnaround is complete after the actor won the Oscar for Best Actor at the 86th Academy Awards for his stunning turn in Dallas Buyers Club. McConaughey played Ron Woodruff, a HIV patient who smuggled unapproved drugs into Texas when he found them effective at improving his symptoms, and distributed them to fellow sufferers.

McConaughey has long been the favorite to win the award and is now considered one of the greatest American actors after he ditched lucrative romantic-comedy roles for serious dramatic parts. He has been lauded for his roles in Mud, Magic Mike and Dallas Buyers Club and pretty much stole The Wolf of Wall Street away from Leonardo DiCaprio in one scene.
Taking to the stage to collect his award, McConaughey told the audience, "Thank you to the Academy for this, all six thousand members, thank you to the other nomines, all these performances were inpecable in my opinon."
He also thanked the director, Jean-Marc Vallée, co-stars Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner, for "who I worked with daily."
McConaughey then stated that he needs three things throughout the day, "someone to look up to, something to look forward to and something to chase."
"I want to thank God, because that is who I look up to...he has shown me it is a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates," he continued. "To my family, that is who I look forward to...to you dad who taught me what it is to be a man, to my mother who is here tonight, who taught me and my brother, who demanded that we respect ourselves."
The 44 year-old then paid tribute to his children, and wife, as they are "the people that I want to make the most proud of me."
He further added the person he chases is his "hero," which is himself ten years into the future. "It keep me to somebody to keep on chasing."
In typical McConaughey style, he ended the speech with "alright, alright ,alright."
Ironically, McConaughey is currently turning in the best work of his career on television, as Detective Rust Cohle in Nic Pizzolato's True Detective. Emmys and Golden Globes are pretty much a certainty in 2014, though for now, McConaughey can enjoy life as an Oscar winner.
