Nicole Scherzinger's recent claim will not sit well with Simon Cowell. The 36 year-old singer "seriously" can't figure out why she hasn't received any kind of payoff for the success of One Direction.

After all, she was the one who put the five boys together in the first place.

Scherzinger wants a cut of One Direction's success

Scherzinger worked as a guest judge on The X Factor panel in 2010, the year One Direction got their big break, and eventually stood in for Cheryl Cole during the bootcamp stages.

Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan initially didn't get through to the final rounds of the singing competition as solo acts, but they did advance after joining forces.

And Scherzinger is adamant this was all her idea.

The 'Poison' singer recently spoke to Heat magazine and joked about how bizarre it is to see the five boys dominate the music charts all over the world.

"I'm happy for their success. I can't believe I put together the group and then I'm at Walmart buying One Direction bags for my nieces. Like, something is wrong with this picture!" she told the mag.

Scherzinger claims it was her idea to put One Direction together

"Can you guys please send me a box of One Direction goodies? Somebody help me out here," Nicole continued. "Not only do I not get a cut, but now I'm buying bags for my nieces, with the boys' faces on it. I was like, 'What?'... Where's my cut? Seriously? I'm a giver, what can I say? I gave the world One Direction."
