The incident took place at the BBC Radio 2 open-air concert in Hyde Park in September 2014, but the couple denies all allegations.
Some slightly weird / gross news for you – a London court has heard how a woman was allegedly caught performing a sexual act on her boyfriend during an open-air Paloma Faith gig in Hyde Park last year.
Lisanne Beck, 47, from the Welsh city of Swansea and her partner Simon Murphy, 48, were arrested while Paloma Faith was performing live at the BBC Radio 2 outdoor concert in the capital in September 2014. The Old Bailey was told that Beck said to the arresting officer “the rules must be different in England”.
A Welsh couple is accused of perfoming a 'sexual act' during a Paloma Faith gig in Hyde Park in 2014
Witnesses told the court how she was performing oral sex on Murphy during the set, when there were children in the audience nearby whose horrified parents were forced to cover their eyes. The couple was eventually ejected from the concert following scores of complaints at the time.
One key witness, Mike Holden, decided to record the incident on his mobile phone and hand the footage over to police for evidence, which was shown in the courtroom. Recalling his version of events, he testified “up until the sexual act I was amused to a certain extent. When I realised things were going too far I was repulsed by that and very upset by that. It was a family event and there were children in the immediate vicinity.”
The couple denies all allegations of public indecency, claiming that they are being “framed” and that the whole incident is one of mistaken identity. The Daily Mail reports that Murphy told the court “Lisanne didn't perform this on me and didn't perform it on anyone else. I would have noticed if she had.”
Beck specifically refutes the claim that she made the comments about ‘rules being different’. She admits hugging and kissing Murphy, but denies putting her head anywhere near his groin. “I've never committed a sex act in public,” she said. “I believe they said that because they wanted to frame us because they didn't like how we were laughing and joking and being merry.”
The trial is ongoing.
