Rocker Pete Doherty secretly begged pals to send him drugs while he was battling heroin addiction at a rehabilitation clinic in Thailand.

The Libertines star checked into the Hope Rehab Center in Chonburi in October (14) after numerous attempts to beat his drug demons failed.

In December (14), he told fans he was free of heroin and crack cocaine for the first time in more than 10 years, and it emerged on Sunday (04Jan15) that he has since checked out of the unit.

Following his course of treatment, the clinic's manager Simon Mott revealed he had twice intercepted packages of heroin that had been sent to Doherty while inside the rehab unit, and Mott blamed "disgusting people" for trying to "sabotage his treatment".

Now Wenn can reveal Doherty himself had tried to arrange at least one consignment of heroin to be delivered to him at the clinic hidden inside a box of clothing.

In an email written in early November (14), just weeks after he checked in to Hope, Doherty told a pal in Hamburg, Germany that he was planning a long stay at the clinic, before adding, "Please could you send me some clothes? (and stash a gram of rocko's finest inside the parcel (pleeeeeease). Don't feel you are risking my recovery. I'm really taking care."

Doherty was also castigated by staff at the clinic for stockpiling his supplies of heroin substitute methadone to take in "absolute emergencies". Heroin addicts are given the green liquid to help wean them off the drug.
