Pharrell Williams has teamed up with luxury fashion brand Comme Des Garçons to create a brand new fragrance called 'GIRL,' designed to be worn by both men and women. The 'Happy' singer has been working in collaboration with fashion designer Rei Kawakubo's Comme des Garçons Parfums and has had a hand in each stage of the creative process.

"I am so honored to be working with Comme des Garçons and cherish the education that I've experienced in this collaboration," said the 40 year-old pop star. Many celebrities who go down the route of scent creation let the experts do all the mixing but Pharrell apparently had a very specific idea of the kind of smell he wanted. Comme des Garçons CEO Adrian Joffe reported that Pharrell, "knew exactly what he wanted the perfume to smell like right from the beginning" via Vogue Australia.

Specific details regarding the fragrance are scares at this early stage apart from its launch month: September. The label has had an incredibly successful experience selling scents so Pharrell's will probably be no different. The scent's name, 'GIRL,' follows on from Pharrell's latest, mega-selling album release of the same name.

Fans fearful that this will be another celebrity stinker needn't look so worried: Justin Bieber's 'Girlfriend' this is not. Pharrell has earned himself a reputation for fashion-forward, daring and always well-received choices in clothing, as demonstrated by THAT giant Vivienne Westwood hat, so his foray into perfumery shouldn't be any different.

Not only does Williams have a perfume in the pipeline, he has also recently collaborated with fashion brands Moncler and Louis Vuitton to create jewellery and sunglasses and has also recently revealed that he is the creative director of an eco-conscious collaboration between G-Star Raw and Bionic Yarn, according to Billboard.

Aside from the numerous fashion projects underway, right now is a great time to be Pharrell: his Despicable Me 2 soundtrack song 'Happy' has become the only single to have three separate roses to No.1 and his new album, G I R L, debuted at No.2 on the Billboard Hot 200. The fragrance is set to drop in September.
