He’s known for his unique fashion sense just as much as he is for his catchy hits, so it's no surprise to see Pharrell Williams being named as this year’s CFDA Fashion Icon Award winner. The ‘Happy’ singer has become a fashion trailblazer in recent years, always making waves on the red carpet thanks to his fearless, ever changing style.

The singer follows in the footsteps of Rihanna, who last year took home the award, collecting the trophy in a daring Adam Selman gown. According to the CDFA, the award goes to "an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage." Previous recipients of the honour also include Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.

Pharrell’s style statements include his famed Vivienne Westwood hat, wearing shorts on the Oscars' red carpet and even indulging in the guyliner trend. The singer has also launched numerous collaborations with designers including Adidas, Moncler and Uniqlo.
