She wouldn't want to become part of Swift's 'squad' because Taylor is a "role model", whereas she isn't trying to be.
Taylor Swift may be the toast of pretty much the entire world right now, but there’s one person who definitely doesn’t want to be part of her “squad”. Fellow pop star Rihanna has said that she wouldn’t join the ‘Bad Blood’ singer on stage if she was asked, because to her it wouldn’t make sense.
Throughout her 1989 World Tour, Swift has attracted tons of headlines for bringing a huge array of female celebrities – plus Matt LeBlanc, for some reason - up on stage with her. “Please welcome to the stage…” has become one of the most parodied phrases of the summer, ending up in that hilarious viral video.

But the self-styled bad girl RiRi, who caused a great social media stir with her recent video for single ‘B**** Better Have My Money’, would refuse such an invitation. “I don’t think I would [join her on stage]. I just don’t think it makes sense,” she admitted.
The Barbadian-born star, 27, explained her reasoning during a new interview with the NME, for whom she’s the first cover star in the publication’s new free format. “I don’t think our brands are the same: I don’t think they match. I don’t think our audiences are the same. In my mind, she’s a role model, I’m not.”

She isn’t the only one to be turned off by Swift’s clique of pals. Miley Cyrus recently told the New York Times: “None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives, because I’m inspired by them.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Rihanna confirms that she’s still putting the finishing touches to her forthcoming eighth studio album, but promises that it will be “something great” for her fans. It’s been more than three years since her last effort, 2012’s Unapologetic.
The overhauled NME can be picked up for free at more than 500 locations in the United Kingdom every Friday, including the full interview with Rihanna.
