Robin Thicke has been arrested for possessing marijuana. Soul singer Robin Thicke was arrested in New York this morning (18 Feb 2012) after patrol officers saw him smoking a joint in his Cadillac Escalade.
The arrest took place at 12.25pm close to Gramercy Park. A police source told the New York Daily News: 'He wasn't driving, he was sitting in the car. He was arrested and a small amount of marijuana was recovered on him.' The 34-year-old was in the car with another person but he was only arrested and charged. According to The Daily Mail, another source said that he was co-operative during the arrest: 'He was taking pictures with the cops. They were coming over to him and getting autographs.' Thicke was taken to the police station and issued a charge before being allowed to go back home. He has been ordered a summons date to when he will have to go to court for possessing the illegal drug.
His arrest follows his performance on Thursday night (16 Feb 2012) at the Nomad's Way gala to benefit educational initiatives in Kazakhstan. Thicke has previously crafted popular tracks for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Brandy and Marc Anthony, whilst the singer released his fifth studio album, 'Love After War' in December. He is currently married to 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' star Paula Patton and they have one child together. Thicke's spokesman is yet to comment on the issue.
