Somebody might need to give Robin Thicke an intervention. The Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling artist has ruled the charts in the past year, with his hit singles like ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Give It 2 You,’ but music seems to be the only thing that’s been working out for him lately.

Earlier this year, it was said that Thicke’s high school sweetheart and wife of nearly ten years, Paula Patton, would be seeking a divorce, and Thicke isn’t taking it well. In an effort to reconcile the relationship, there have been numerous attempts made by him that includes dedicating live performances to her. Even though he’s been quoted telling People Magazine that he’s “much happier” following the split, his actions speak otherwise – especially in regards to his new music.

Last month, Thicke debuted his new single at the Billboard Music Awards, titled ‘Get Her Back,’ while introducing the track by telling the crowd, “All right, y'all, help me get her back." Before then, during a show in Fairfax, Virginia, he also told the crowd, “For y'all that don't know, me and my wife separated but I'm trying to get my girl back." It, uh, hasn’t worked so far. Though it’s a valiant effort, it might be time to let it go … but I don’t think he’s giving up that easily. In fact, he’s taking it to a whole different level: Thicke’s new album, set for release on July 1, will be titled Paula.

Wait. What? Dude. No. Stop it, Robin. You have to stop. You obviously don’t have a friend that loves you enough to give you the truth, so that’s what I’m here for. Naming your album after your estranged wife is very creepy. I know from experience! In 4th grade, my girlfriend broke up with me and I made her an R. Kelly mix CD to win her back and she totally didn’t talk to me for, like, 12 years, so I know how you feel. Kind of. Anyway, point is, I doubt there’s a single person that didn’t feel some sort of secondhand embarrassment after hearing the title. We can only imagine how Patton feels.

Then again, this could all be a publicity stunt. What better way to hype a new album and get revenge on an ex than to use her for material to sell a ton of records? After coming off the massive success of Blurred Lines, it only makes sense for a fast turnaround for a new album. This probably isn’t the case, of course, but at least the album is off to a good start. ‘Get Her Back,’ content aside, is actually pretty great, and considering Thicke’s previous track record, Paula is worth being excited for. Even if it has the cringiest album title of all-time.
