Robin Thicke may have thought that giving his Twitter followers the chance to ask him questions was a good idea...but he was very wrong.

The 37 year-old singer was scheduled to take part in a Q&A Twitter chat on Tuesday afternoon (July 1st) to promote his latest album 'Paula.'

For fans to post their questions they had to include the hashtag #AskThicke in their tweets, but as soon this was launched it was clear the majority of his followers were not interested in the album.

Thicke has suffered a backlash from the public in recent months due to his constant public pleas to his estranged wife Paula Patton, who decided to end their relationship this past February.

The 'Blurred Lines' singer's most recent attempt to get back together with the 38 year-old actress occurred at this Sunday's BET awards in an onstage tribute.

So it is no surprise that most of the questions from the Twitter chat were about his personal life, with most being very unpleasant.

One tweeter wrote, "Robin Thicke says he wants the Twitter abuse to stop, but we all know "stop" means "more". He taught us that himself."

"Did you know that the lines were not blurred they were actually clear and shaped the letters N and O," another disgruntled user tweeted.

One of the lesser offensive tweets read, "do you gel your hair with the grease from your own personality."

Despite the utter humiliation and PR disaster that the Q&A session was, Thicke actually did respond to some of the questions.

When one follower wrote "Man people are brutal on this," the 'Give It To U' singer replied, "I'm a big boy. I can handle it."

Thicke and Patton, who met during high school, share a three year-old son, called Julian Fuego Thicke, together.
