Ryan Reynolds proved that he has a serious side to him when he accepted the Entertainer of the Year Award this weekend at the Critics' Choice Awards where he also won Best Actor in a Comedy and was nominated for Best Actor in an Action Movie. He dedicated his gong to kids with cancer.

The 'Deadpool' star won Entertainment Weekly's Entertainer of the Year at the 22nd annual Critics' Choice Awards last night (December 11th 2016) but took the opportunity to take the spotlight off himself for a while and onto all the children who are suffereing from cancer and other illnesses in hospital. 

'The character had cancer and some of the people that this character resonated with was sick kids', he told the audience during his acceptance speech. 'So I would like to dedicate this honor to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the SickKids Foundation of Toronto, two incredible organizations that do so much for so many kids in need.

'They started a fight and it's up to us to finish it', he added.

That wasn't the last of his dedications, however. When he received Best Actor In A Comedy, he cited Tom Hanks as one of his biggest influences. 'You're a huge influence on me', he said directly to the Oscar winning actor who was in the audience. 'My two-year-old daughter [James], the first full sentence she ever said was, 'There's no crying in baseball.''

More big winners at the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards were Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's musical drama 'La La Land' which landed eight awards including Best Picture. 'Jackie' and 'Manchester By The Sea' got three awards each including Best Actress (Natalie Portman) and Best Actor (Casey Affleck) respectively.

Ryan Reynolds is currently working on three movie projects; 'Deadpool 2' as well as sci-fi thriller 'Life' with Jake Gyllenhaal and Patrick Hughes action comedy 'The Hitman's Bodyguard' with Samuel L. Jackson.
