The 31 year old actress is also the youngest star to appear in the Top Ten list, compiled by Box Office Mojo of the highest grossing actors of all time.
Scarlett Johansson has been revealed as the highest grossing actress at the box offices in movie history, according to the tracking site Box Office Mojo in its updated list of top-earning filmstars.
The 31 year old star, who has already starred in two massive blockbusters in 2016 that have scooped up hundreds of millions of dollars (Captain America: Civil War as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, and The Jungle Book as Kaa), is tenth in an overall list of the highest-grossing names in cinema history.
Scarlett Johansson is the highest-grossing actress in box office history
Johansson, who began her career as a child actor and has built a reputation for stand-alone successes, blockbusting franchise vehicles and well-received indie flicks over the years, has starred in movies that have collectively grossed $3.3 billion at North American box offices. However, a large part of her receipts are driven by her five appearances as Black Widow in the Captain America and Avengers series.
She is also the youngest star, either male or female, in the top ten of the list, which is topped by 73 year old Harrison Ford whose receipts totalling $4.88 billion in his 50 years as an actor.

Revealingly, Cameron Diaz, whose receipts total just over $3 billion, is the only other female in the top 20 in the list.
“There’s something icky about me having that conversation unless it applies to a greater whole,” Johansson told Cosmopolitan about the much-publicised gender gap in pay in the film industry.
“I am very fortunate, I make a really good living, and I’m proud to be an actress who’s making as much as many of my male peers at this stage… I think every woman has [been underpaid], but unless I’m addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious. It’s part of a larger conversation about feminism in general.”
