Shia LaBeouf says he is "terrified" about starring in Lars Von Trier's new movie 'Nymphomaniac' because he will shoot "real" sex scenes. The actor - who recently stripped down for a Sigur Ros video - is understood to be playing the lover of Charlotte Gainsbourg's character.
Speaking MTV News, Shia explained, "It is what you think it is. There's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says, we're doing [the sex] for real. And anything that is 'illegal' will be shot in blurred images, but other than that, everything is happening". The movie follows Gainsbourg's character and her sexual history (her husband is played by Stellan Skarsgard, though she is in love with LaBeouf's character). During a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Shia spoke of being "done" with the big-budget Hollywood system that doesn't give "visionary" filmmakers a chance, saying, "[The studios] give you the money, then get on a plane and come to the set and stick a finger up your ass and chase you around for five months". He appears to be keeping his word, having filmed a number of indie flicks recently, as well as signing on for several more. This summer, he'll star in 'Lawless', a film he helped produce, as well as the independent productions 'The Company You Keep' and 'The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman'.
Little is known of Von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac', though Nicole Kidman is also thought to be attached. A synopsis simply reads, "A woman discovers her hidden erotic desires". Von Trier - one of the most controversial auteurs of recent times - was declared persona non grata at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 after publically declaring his sympathy for Adolf Hitler during a press conference for his movie 'Melancholia'.
